Summer Season of Warrior

Hi everyone – well, we just completed a great Summer season of Warrior workouts at the Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool in the Domain (Sydney city).
Without doubt one of the best Swim Centres in Sydney – clean water, great training facilities, awesome location & professional, friendly staff. Ben, the Centre Manager really went out of his way to accommodate Team Warrior and for that we are all very appreciative. Most importantly, we are counting down the days till we start up again next season (1st September).

Doing what I do, I come across really inspirational characters; at the beginning of the season MUJIB SHAIK; who has been training with Team Warrior for nearly 2 years, (and losing 15kg in the process!) wanted to attend the Team warrior Pool sessions. The only problem was, he couldn’t swim a stroke, and had a fear of the water. Displaying courage, determination & a fearless attitude; he went from hanging onto a kickboard, to kicking, to swimming with the kickboard to ultimately swimming 200m non-stop & unaided by the end of the season.

Displaying the “One Team, One Dream” motto; members of Team Warrior helped MUJOB enormously. You see, anyone can achieve, if you just put your mind to it & believe in yourself. To see him swim that 200m was inspirational and as satisfying as seeing any athlete I have trained succeed in crossing the line 1st. It brought a tear to not only the Warrior’s eye, but to nearly every set of eyes watching it. MUJIB is no Ian Thorpe, but a Team Warrior gold medalist none-the-less.

At our last session at the Pool, we handed out some Awards –
• Appreciation Awards – Tim Wilson / Nick Corumbis
• Apprentice Award – Jesse Todd
• Blocked Lane Awards – The Big Unit
• Bondi Rescue Award – Irish Johnny
• Courage Award – Jill Patterson
• Lifeguard Award – Lauren Tower & Detroit Tiger (Colin Morauski)
• Men’s Health Award – Glenn Howard
• Xena Award – Georgina Howard
• Most Improved Award – Mujib Shaik
• Outstanding Lane Award – Nick Rosenberg/Ben Watson/Cameron Stuart/Damien Sullivan
• The Warrior Award – Joe Duscan

That’s all for now – next time, read about Team Warrior at Palm Beach – it will make for interesting reading!
